ABSTRAK

This study explored how lecturers at Antasari State Islamic University Banjarmasin implemented collaborative teaching in English language instruction. The study aimed to investigate lecturer’s perception and practice of collaborative teaching, as well as the challenges and benefits they experienced during its implementation. Using a qualitative narrative inquiry research design, the researcher involved 3 lecturers who had experienced in collaborative teaching. The data were collected through semi-structured interview and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed that collaborative teaching was implemented through shared responsibilities, callaborative planning, continuous communication, and the integration of related course materials. Lecturers perceived collaborative teaching as an effective approach that enhances classroom instruction and enhanced student’s engagement by integrating various teaching perspectives. However, several challenges emerged, including differences in student’s motivation and abilities, classroom management issues, and the need for effective coordination among lecturers. Despite these challenges, collaborative teaching provided various benefits, such as increasing lecturer’s confidance, promoting knowlage sharing, strengthening professional relationships, and improving the overall quality of teaching and learning. The study concluded that collaborative teaching contributes positively to lecturer’s professional development and student’s learning experiences in English language education
