The focus of this research are: to know how is the use of “Emma has an enemy” technique in grammar IV of fifth semester students at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin and to know how is the fifth semester students’ mastery about grammar at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin.
The population in this research are 123 fifth semester students in academic year 2016/2017. The sample of is this research are taken from students of class C and D in English Department, there are 42 students.
The data of this thesis are collected through observation, interview and document of result test. After the all data has been collected and interpreted, the writer analyzes descriptively.
The result of this research is the technique uses diary as teaching media and assess their understanding of grammar rule by making sentences and applying it into diary. The students asked to do assignment by pair work and group work, this can make students’ enthusiast in learning grammar because so they can interact with their friends. The result of grammar mastery of fifth semester student at UIN Antasari is in good category with average score 76.26.
